Grosman Gale Fletcher Hopkins LLP is pleased to announce that three of its partners, R. Mark Fletcher, William R. Gale, and Jeff C. Hopkins, have been recognized as leading employment lawyers in Ontario in the 2026 edition of the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.

For over three decades, the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory has published an annual survey identifying leading lawyers and law firms across Canada. The rankings are determined through nominations and recommendations from experienced members of the legal profession and respected industry peers, recognizing practitioners who exhibit outstanding expertise, leadership, and impact within their areas of practice.

These partners’ recognition in this year’s directory highlights their continued dedication to providing exceptional legal services in employment law and contributing to the development of this complex field through the depth of their knowledge and professional experience.

R. Mark Fletcher Recognized in 2026 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Employment Law

R. Mark Fletcher has been designated by Lexpert as a “most frequently recommended” employment lawyer who represents both employers and employees. He has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada as one of the country’s leading practitioners in employment law.

Mark is an accomplished trial lawyer who regularly represents clients in wrongful dismissal litigation, executive compensation disputes, and human rights matters. In addition to his advocacy work, he is frequently invited to speak on employment and human rights topics by organizations such as the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, and Osgoode Hall Law School. Mark has also served as co-Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Cases of Employment Law (CCEL) and as an editor of the Employment Bulletin.

Mark has also been named one of Canada’s 2026 Leading Legal Practitioners in the esteemed Lexpert’s Leading 500 Cross-Border Lawyers: A Guide to Doing Business in Canada.

William R. Gale Recognized as a Lexpert-Ranked Employment Lawyer in Ontario

William (Bill) Gale has been a partner at Grosman Gale Fletcher Hopkins LLP since 1989. Over the years, Lexpert has repeatedly identified him as a “consistently recommended” employment lawyer acting for both employers and employees. He has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada for his contributions to the field.

Bill dedicates a substantial portion of his practice to negotiating and drafting executive employment agreements. His skill in translating complex compensation arrangements into clear and effective written contracts earned him the description of “an executive agent” in the National Post’s Business Magazine.

An experienced advocate, Bill has appeared before both trial and appellate courts in numerous reported decisions involving wrongful dismissal, human rights, occupational health and safety, employment contracts, pensions, and employee benefits. He advises a wide range of clients, including both employees and employers, as well as institutional employers such as arts organizations, navigating evolving workplace issues.

Bill has served as Editor-in-Chief of Canadian Cases on Employment Law and as a contributing author to New Perspectives in Canadian Employment Law. He has also written extensively for other employment law publications, including the Employment Bulletin, and is a frequent speaker at professional and industry conferences.
